Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, 10/14/2008. We'll meet in the mezzanine of Chiller North starting promptly at 6:30 PM.

2008-2009 Official Development Plan

Steno Pad Program
  • Each new & level 1 official is given a steno pad to keep in his/her back pocket
  • Evaluator will write down areas of improvement at the end of the evaluation
  • At the next evaluation, the evaluator will go over the steno pad and ensure that the official improved in the respective areas
  • FOCUS FOR THIS SEASON: appearance, face offs, position and assessing penalties


Shadow Program
  • Select Level 3 officials will work with level 1 officials on every lower level house game
  • As much as possible, a selected third official will shadow the younger official in these games


Game Observer Program
  • Select officials will show up early to their game with their level 1 partner and watch the officials on the ice before their own scheduled game time
  • The goal is for the younger official to learn by watching other referees call a game


Evaluators/Shadowers/Game Observers
  • Evaluators will be selected by the Official Development Committee
  • Each evaluator MUST submit at least 3 evaluations per month to the Director of Official Development
  • Each Shadower/Game Observer shall work at least 1 game per month either as a shadower or as a game observer


3 Official Positioning Clinic
  • All officials qualified to line or referee 3-man games will attend one clinic on positioning
  • There will be 1 hour of classroom
  • The time & date of this clinic is Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at 7 pm (Chiller North)
